Moving up to High School

Moving up to High School is an exciting time for our pupils.  We work hard to develop our pupils' academic abilities, but also their independence and their desire to thrive in a challenging new environment.  We regularly hear from staff at our local high schools that pupils from Great Budworth stand out due to their enthusiasm, their attitude to learning and their desire to contribute to all aspects of the life of their new school.  Throughout their time at Great Budworth, pupils have the opportunity to visit local High Schools so that they become a familiar and exciting place to be.

We are a feeder primary school for both County High School Leftwich and for Hartford Church of England High School.

As a feeder school for the County High School Leftwich our pupils often take part in PE events at Leftwich and their PE staff visit us at Great Budworth.

As a Church of England Primary school and feeder school we also have strong links with Hartford Church of England High School, where our pupils are often invited to take part in events held at the school and at St John's Church in Hartford, especially at Christmas and Easter.

In addition to this, many of the local high schools run workshops and master classes that our Gifted & Talented pupils are invited to attend.

During Year 6, the class teacher works closely with the teachers in Year 7 to ensure that the High School your child moves up to is fully aware of the level that your child is working at and that they can provide any addition support that your child might need.  During July each year, all year 6 pupils are invited to attend induction days at the High School they will attending in the following September.  The children have plenty of opportunity before and after these days to think through any issues that may be concerning them.

In the last few years, pupils from our schools have moved up to the following high schools;

The County High School, Leftwich

Hartford Church of England High School

University Academy Northwich

Weaverham High School

Knutsford Academy

Lymm High School

Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School
