Weaver Hall Museum

Lesson: History

Class: Class 2 Year: 2017 - 2018

On Tuesday we went to Weaver Hall Museum in Northwich to find out about life at the workhouse.  When we arrived we had to be checked to see if we were healthy.  They looked at our hands, ears and tongue!  Then we found out about the jobs that we would have to do if we had been in the workhouse such as the laundry, grindng grain to flour, picking oakum and making a rag rug.  We also had lessons in the school room learning how to write on a slate, doing our maths and finding out about what scientists in Victorian times thought about the world.  We all decided we would not have liked to have been in the workhouse - it was very hard work!  It was a brilliant trip!
